You don’t just learn about flight, you experience it. As a Civil Air Patrol Cadet, you will get up to five orientation flights in a powered Civil Air Patrol aircraft, up to five flights in a glider, and unlimited flights as a passenger in a CAP plane when available.
Flying is always free to cadets. In powered aircraft, cadets are aloft for 45 to 60 minutes. If two cadets fly at once, they share 90 to 120 minutes of flight time. In glider aircraft, the flight time will depend on the soaring conditions.
CAP pilots are licensed by the FAA. Moreover, pilots must meet additional requirements set by CAP.
