The 75th Anniversary of the Civil Air Patrol is happening in 2016. In 2014, CAP National Headquarters asked for logo designs to be submitted by any designers wishing to compete. The final chosen design was to be incorporated into multiple items for the anniversary celebration: anniversary challenge coins, patches and maybe even a special postage mark.
Our very own 2Lt Glenn Somodi designed seven different logos for the competition. Medina County Skyhawk cadets and senior members had the chance to vote on their favorite logo submissions from the pool of 7 logos, and those selected were submitted into the competition.
Recently we learned that not one, but two of our designs were chosen by National Headquarters. They liked both logo designs so much they decided to use one for a challenge coin and letterhead, and the other for patches, posters and other items.
“I am very excited to learn that something our squadron helped to create will appear on so many materials for the 75th Anniversary,” 2Lt Somodi said, “it will be great to look back in time and see a part of history and know our squadron had a hand in it.”
